A Doodle While Deciding

Remember those days when you were down at the beach as a kid?

Picking up a stick, starting to draw stuff in the sand.

Then you realized you’d made the drawing to close to the water.

The tide ominously reaching towards it.

Before, inevitably, it washed it all away.

This digital painting/drawing is just like that:

I feel that I’ve finished a lot of series lately, which I’ve been working on for quite some time.

When I’m occupied with these series, they give me a clear idea about what I’m going to paint next.

Now, though, as I’m at a crossroads, I have no idea.

So I decided to let this painting be free of both commitments and ambitions.

Just a drawing of stuff I like to draw, before the tide of my all-consuming series ideas takes a hold of me again.

It was splendid!

And I hope you’re having a splendid day as well.

    1. Thank you so much! It has taken me down the whole spectrum from grief to joy. Several times over. Either way, I can’t stop πŸ™‚ I really appreciate you taking the time to tell me.

  1. perspective seems to be wrong – the water and the mountains do not match. apart from that, i like the trees a lot! have a great day and loads of ideas. all the best from berlin, m.

    1. Thank you! πŸ™‚

I’m trying to give the appearance of drawings in the sand, soon being washed away by the tide. That gives it a “flat” perspective, I guess. Do you still feel it’s wrong? If so, I’d like to get your views on it πŸ™‚

      1. hello kim, okay. yes, it still looks wrong. i do not know exactly how to tell you about it. if i could show it with my hands, it would be easier. smile. i will try: the water seems to be “vertical”, but to my opinion it should be horizontal. that is what i see.
        all the best, m.

      2. I’ll have a look at that, then πŸ™‚ Thank you for telling me. I appreciate every input that can help me improve. All the best to you as well πŸ™‚

      3. thank you, kim. i asked myself it is better to say something or not. sometimes i know it is not easy to take if someone says something, i know it by myself. i am glad you took it this way as it was meant by me – to help improving. i like your art, you know it. best regards, m.

I would love it if you left me a few words
