There is a myth here in Norway, that tourists come to us expecting to see polar bears walking around in the streets.
I assume the myth is quite exaggerated, but it’s a fun one.
We don’t have polar bears on the mainland, to be clear, but you can find them on the island Svalbard.
Needless to say, they take a few more precautions there when heading out the door.
Well, to get back on track here, I realized that I’ve never drawn nor painted a polar bear before.
So I needed to do something about that.
And this became the result:
I like how this painting ended up, with it’s kind of fabricky look.
The colours are quite strong.
But the rough strokes tone it down a bit.
And the polar bear didn’t end up looking to bad either.
I’m a bit unsure about how this situation will end.
And why the ship ended up in such a state.
But how fun it is to contemplate!

Woooooohooooooo!!!! ♥️ the colors, the texture, the EVERYTHING. 👏👏👏👏👏
Thank you so much! I really appreciate it 😀
I’m loving your skies at the moment!
Thank you! I hope it gives some impression of that beautiful northern light 🙂
Beautiful art, and I really love the song on the video. Is the music your work as well?
Thank you, Maryanne! No, it’s one of those royalty-free songs that is published online. I should probably start crediting them. I forgot to do that.
Great work Kim 👍🏻
Thank you so much, Elaine! I hope you’re having a good weekend 🙂
You’re welcome, have a great weekend too
I really like the picture and the video!
Thank you so much, Carsten! That makes me very glad 🙂 I think you might have inspired me to paint/draw more ships. I’ve been wanting to do it for a long time now, and I remember how much I liked yours 🙂
Maybe there’s more in the painting than meets the eye. Something positive? Negative? Something else? Interesting.. Very inspiring..
Maybe there is, Kitty 🙂 I find both fear and hope, good and evil in it. Unfortunately, a lot of times, I don’t quite understand why I paint or draw the things I do. They just come so natural that I don’t really reflect on them before getting to work 🙂
Oh, This time laps was cool, and I love the painting too! You are a very talended artis I think. I always lookinkg forward to see your work.
Thank you so much! I’m so glad you watched it 🙂 And thank you for the very nice words. I really appreciate that 🙂
I love this. And very excited by it – I’ve planned a trip to Svalbard next May so I’m like a sponge soaking up all references to it.
I like how the bear contrasts so cleanly against the rest of the painting. Great narrative! J
Thank you! And how exciting, Julie! I’ve never been there, so you’ll probably end up knowing more about polar bears in Norway than I do 🙂
So original and wonderful.
Thank you, Michele! I’m really glad you like it 😀
