The Splash – Keeping it Up with Ink Paintings

I must admit that I’m kind of obsessed with ink paintings at the moment.

I just love how raw they look.

How fantastically hard they are to control.

And how you have to keep working on those contrasts to make it work.

What’s not to like, right?

Anyway, in my process of learning I want to show off a couple of my pieces.

Today, it’s this one:

It’s made using a water brush, a few felt pens and a brush marker.

My goal was to depict a huge wave coming in along the coast.

Ready to smash against those hard, weather-beaten rocks.

I also added a splash of ink on the paper, and used my mouth to blow the water around.

Just to give an indication of what’s going to happen when the wave comes.

I then drew/painted along the edges of the splatter.

Just pure fun, in the rawest form.

Anyway, I hope you’re having a great day!

    1. Thank you for saying that. I really appreciate it 🙂 I tend to get a bit obsessed with it all. Ink painting is something I’ve wanted to try for a long time, so it was fantastic to finally take the step 🙂

I would love it if you left me a few words
