Just Trees or Something More?

In my last post I briefly showed off a few new watercolour pieces.

Like most of my recent watercolour paintings, they show trees, grass and fence posts, in different shapes and colours.

But, is that enough to make you intrigued?

Or is it missing something more?

Would you have added something?

If so, what would it be?

I would love to get your view on it.

But, most importantly, I would like to wish you a great day!

  1. It all depends on what you like to tell with your drawing. It’s all good that you have maybe doubts about your work or think about it how it can be different or better. Most of the time you know the right answers yourself. Keep up the good work!

    1. Thank you so much for the nice comment πŸ™‚

I want to depict the serenity and rawness in nature, but sometimes I worry about it getting too boring. But personally I must admit that I don’t want to add much more to these paintings. So I guess I just have to trust my own decisions.

Thank you again for leading me to that mental review πŸ™‚

  2. I think they are wonderful. I really like the yellow one. Your shading on the fence posts and the road is wonderful. I am just getting started in watercolor and have a long ways to go until I am as good as you are. I enjoy your artwork πŸ™‚

    1. Thank you so much, Beth! I don’t know why, but wordpress put this comment in my spam filter. I’m very glad I noticed it, though, because I really appreciate your kind words. I wish you all the best on your watercolor journey. It’s both fantastic and frustratingly hard sometimes. But you just need to keep on going, and it’ll improve. Theres no medium like it πŸ™‚

  3. The upward diagonal to the right is heartening and the soft colors taht the trees fade into and stand out from are just right. There is a simple serenity to it that is very content. Just the way it is 🌸

  4. Things are there if you look for them. Like the beginning of Misty Mountains in the background on the left one or the hot air balloon on the right one. Maybe it’s not fence posts but forest people looking at those beautiful trees you made for them.

I would love it if you left me a few words
