On the West Coast of Norway, where I grew up, there are a lot of fjords.
In these fjords, there are often only one road in.
That, again, makes it only one road out.
In one way, it makes these small societies look very cozy.
On the other side, they are very voulnerable.
It only takes one land- or rockslide to isloate the whole community.
And that happens on a regular basis along the coast.
No deliveries.
Sometimes no power.
But the people always stay calm.
“No worries. We’re doing fine”.
It usually takes a day or two to get the road opened again.
And life moves on pretty smoothly.
I love your washes.
Thank you, Laura! That makes me happy 😊
I’m sure the sense of community is very strong in Iceland.
Lovely painting!
Sorry, I meant to type Norway!
I can’t vouch for the bigger cities, but definitely so in these small communities 🙂
I’m sure that they would share the same kind of experiences in isolated areas of Canada, for example. 🙂
I would definitely think so, yes 🙂
