It was due for a christmas card, so I tried painting some snowy pines at dusk.
The grains on the paper got a bit dominating on the photo, but I’m very pleased with the result:
I think it ended up pretty cool with the contours of trees in the back, which I added when the paper was still a bit damp.
I then used a dark blend of indigo for the pines in front, and some white gouache for the hints of snow.
I then decided to put the card in a golden frame, for a potential christmas present.

You’re right about the grain of the paper- but I honestly think it makes the picture! It gives it dimension, and more of a realistic look.
