My first oil painting since January 2019.
How nice to enjoy that great smell of (water soluble) oil paint again!

The painting is kind of a sequel of this painting, from 2018:

I think the 2018 version is the best one, mostly because of the darker colours mixed into it.
But I needed something easy to get back into it, and this was perfect for the job.
I hope you like it, and are having a nice day 🙂
Hi. Great painting which captures the freedom of the ocean crashing against shore. I have shared your painting with all appropriate attributions and link to to your post; scheduled for Friday. Best Regards.
Hi, and thank you very much for all the kind words! I grew up by the coast, so this environment means a lot to me. I hope I’m able to represent it well.
Feel free to share. That’s very kind of you as well.
Wishing you a great day!
Hi. My pleasure. Best Regards.
My pleasure. Have a great day.
Love the paintings No favorite, they are all nice.
Thank you so much, Geri 🙂 I really appreciate the kind words 🙂
What are your thoughts on the water-soluble oils? I’m glad I made the switch. It definitely makes clean-up much, much easier, plus I like that I’m not breathing in toxic fumes. 🙂
I have about the exact same experience, Judith 🙂 I got some really strong headaches after sessions using oils, and didn’t really experience any difference when switching over to water soubles. And, as you mention, it’s a lot easier cleaning up, both from the brushes and my hands 🙂 Since I started using water soluble oils pretty quickly I didn’t get to try any quality brands of oil paint, though, but I can’t see me going back to it anyway 🙂
Yeah, the clean-up factor alone is enough to keep me using the water-solubles. What brand are you using? I’m still using my relatively inexpensive Mont Marte paints, and I’m really happy with them. I’ve added in some Winsor and Newton tubes now, too.
I started out using Cobra, which I’m very happy with. I then found a different brand in Lucas, which I added to the mix. The Lucas paint is a bit thicker, but I do enjoy both of them. I haven’t tried Winsor and Newton tubes. Are they good? 🙂
I’m quite happy with the Winsor and Newton tubes. For me, it’s largely a matter of convenience. Instead of driving 20 miles to the next town to buy art supplies, I like to order from Amazon, so as I run low on my Mont Marte paints, I’m replacing the colors with Winsor and Newton — shipped directly to my door. LOL. It really is convenience, and yes, I do like the paints.
I’ll have a look at them, then. It’s always fun to do some browsing 🙂
🙂👍
Nice…
Thanks ☺
I agree with you. Love the 2018 version. I love my oils too but have not painted in oils since April 2019. Just realised this is 1 year 🙁
Time flies ☺ I definitely recommend another go at it, then ☺
