A Bridge over Calm Water

To get some practise drawing landscape scenes, I did this sketch a few weeks ago:

It’s inspired by a drawing from an old tutorial book I got all the way back in the 90’s.

I’m happy with how the houses ended up, and the bridge and bushes are quite nice as well.

With a bit of watercolour the final result ended up like this:

If you want to see more of my sketches you can do so in my online sketchbook.

I hope you are all doing great and are staying healthy!

  1. I really like this, Kim. I like the soft watercolor effect you gave the drawing. I admire people who can draw. I used to draw as a kid, but gave it up for playing music. Years ago I painted using acrylics; mostly on wooden crafts. Now, digital art has taken over my life. But, I still can’t draw. But I can manipulate shapes using the warp tool in PaintShop pro. That’s a lot of fun. Keep up the great work, Kim. You are truly an artist. By the way. Are you left-handed? Most artists are. 😊😎

    1. Thanks a million 🙂

I started out doing oilpaintings only, but decided to try out drawing with pencils and pens as well. It was a true struggle starting out, but it has become better and better.

Acrylics are great painting with. For me it took some getting use to the quick drying time, but after that I look at it as a huge advantage as well. It can be a real bore waiting for those oil paintings to dry 🙂

Digital painting is a medium I’ve been doing for about a year, and I do like that one as well. There are just tons of possibilities 🙂

I’m right-handed, actually. I’m just terrible using my left one, so that won’t do 🙂

      1. Thanks, Kim, for sharing that with me. I’m right-handed, too. My sister was left-handed plus an artist. My youngest grandson is left-handed and an artist, too. I have two great-grandsons that are left-handed and I can’t wait to see if they will be artists. There is so much joy in creativity. Stay well and safe, Kim. 😊
