I’ve been spending a lot of time watercolour painting the last six months. Simply because it’s so challenging and so much fun!
What I recently discovered, though, is how fun it is to do a marker drawing once in a while.
It’s quick, easy to manage in regards of supplies and very therapeutic when it comes to the colouring process. Just letting your mind fly looking at those colourful marker pens move around.
Anyway, I got a book a while back called “5-minute sketching – Animal and pets”, which I found compelling to have a go at. I don’t draw a lot of animals, so this is something I should get better at.
I ended up with a rhinoceros for my first go. I started sketching it with a pencil, went over the best lines with a pen and got some grey markers out to do the finish. This is how it ended up:

I’m quite happy with how it turned out. And I think there’ll be some more of these in the time coming 🙂
What a super cute and somewhat grumpy rhino🦏. Looking forward to seeing more of your animal art.
Thank you 😀 I had some fun making this one, for sure 🙂
I think it’s adorable. Like you, I haven’t done too many animal drawings. You’ve inspired me now. I’ll have to give it a go one of these days.
Thank you, Judith 🙂 It was great fun, so I definitely recommend it!
The markers come out well, I thought it was digital art first.
Thank you, Steve ☺ I’m quite happy with the effect of promarkers. But you have to work fast to prevent edges or smudges. I’ve heard copic markers are good as well, but I haven’t gotten to test them yet ☺
I haven’t ever used a marker, I’ve been tempted but I’ve got so many other forms of mark making to get good at first 😉👍
It seems to work well for you ☺☺
Still so very much to achieve, those goalposts keep moving!!
I know the feeling 😉 They just keep piling up ☺
He looks ticked off. I like it!
Thank you! I would be too if I had to live on a blank sheet ☺
I love this 😊
Glad to hear it! It was a fun evening 😃
