This is another quick sketch I did right after the ones I published in my last post.
I think it’s great fun to do these kind of sketches, which gives me no time to get hung up in mistakes or proportions not being spot on.
This also gives a very different look than in watercolour paintings or more time-consuming drawings.
Anyway, I did a drawing of New York Marts, which we walked past during a trip to Chinatown, New York in 2014.
It just had this busy vibe around it, which I think the cardboard boxes emphasize.

So this is the sketch done.

It took about 10 minutes of drawing and 5-10 minutes adding colour, and I think it turned out ok. (It’s not as green as the last ones, either)..
I’ve just started working with these kind of sketches, but I think there’s some “sketch-style” about it. So that’s fun!
So now it’s on to the next!
Looks great and with some vitality. I’m quite a fan of ‘urban sketching’
Thank you ☺ I’m also a big fan, and are trying hard to get a hold of the sketching style. I find doing things basic is the hardest ☺ I overwork it, and it looks terrible ☺ This is a way to force me to work quickly.
You and me both, I’m considering getting a tattoo on my hand “don’t overwork it”…
Sounds brilliant! Must be an overworked one, then 😉
