A Yellow Sundown

This is an acrylic painting I made a week ago.

I don’t know how I feel about it, really.

On the one hand, I do like how the mountains in the center ended up.

I used a pallette knife to kind of scrape the paint on, which made some paint from the yellow background shine through. A nice effect, I think.

On the other hand, I think the rest of the painting came out a bit.. hard.

The colours don’t mix harmoniously, and it ended up looking a bit messy.

I don’t know if I’ll keep this one, or clear the canvas and have a new go at something else.

But, as always, a new experience richer 🙂

  1. When I first saw this painting, I thought: Klingon territory! Then I read that, to you, it comes across as «hard». So, I guess I see what you mean. Nevertheless, I wouldn’t dismiss this painting. There is something intriguing about it.

    1. Thank you 🙂 Klingon territory was a fun comparison, which I didn’t have in mind when I made it 🙂 I also think there is something intriguing about it, it just feels a bit off.. 🙂

      1. I’m glad you like them ☺ Yes, I think the colours do create a vivid expression, which is something I’ve rarely used. I’ll keep the positives, and learn by the negatives, I guess ☺
